Our Forum sample topic: The app on my iphone lets me see the shot and change settings. As a woman that takes all her own photos, having the remote has cut down reject shots almost 100 over using the timer. For some selfies, I have Shutterball which connects to my iphone or ipad via bluetooth and is a remote shutter. This is a helpful thread! As others have said, basically all camera systems support remotes of some type. At minimum a simple shutter release remote, and increasingly if the camera has wifi you can preview shots and change settings remotely too. There are also 3rd party devices that add that functionality (e. CamRanger). But all those still mean youre holding a remote. For some situations, thats great. For others, its a hassle. As Cake mentioned, the other option is an intervalometer. That lets you set the camera to take a pic automatically every X seconds. For some systems (like Nikon) its built-in, for others (like Canon) its a cheap add-on device (about 15). While that means you are going to get a number of unwanted extra shots, you dont need to hold a remote. On my Canon, for example, I have set the intervalometer to trigger every 20 seconds - and the camera to take a pic two seconds after the shutter release. That means that every 20 seconds, theres a warning beep and then nudist celebrities takes a photo 2 seconds later - leaving you with a 2 second warning to fix your posesmileetc. In many cases, flipping through a few extra photos is afterward is much less hassle than holding a remote - or running over to the camera to start its timer for every shot.
