Our Forum sample topic: I disagree. Informed and engaged viewersmembers should also weigh in. Anyway, most contributors are not engaged enough to be tuned in to this at all. What about some sort of reward for X number of contributions per year?Hi all. This discussion about awards is much needed Kiki, thank you. RR, Dark, and Vanessa make points in both this thread and the related thread which we - hubby and I - agree with. After some consideration, here are some thoughts from a truly amateur contributor (in our world, the most Photoshopping we do is to crop out the dog hair and F-stop is a safe word)Inevitably the award debate turns to the definition of amateur, where Darks phrase Nudism family photos contributors" becomes very descriptive. I recall when we started contributing just how intimidating it was to toss our photos in amongst those "power contributors. " I imagine some are simply too intimidated to contribute. For us, getting a 5th place prize and positive feedback was enough to keep us coming back, but it is definitely frustrating to see a high ranking right up to the end of the contest until the first team enters the field and bumps everyone else down. If we indeed want this site to remain the domain of "dog-hair cropping" amateurs, then please consider the following1. Flatter prize structure. Is there really that much difference between 1st and 2nd in terms of quality. 3rd and 4th?2. Deeper prize structure. 50 bucks for a 10th place finish could still bring a smile to someones face ("hey I won on VW!") and keep them coming back or bragging to their friends - who would of course want to check it out.
